Getting Right with God
While filling up with gasoline a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a 2002 – 2006 cinnamon color Dodge minivan enter the gas station from Warm Springs Road and proceed (at a higher than normal parking lot speed) through the area between the store entrance and the area where patrons were pumping gasoline. As I watched the vehicle exit the parking lot onto Warm Springs Connector—without stopping or slowing for oncoming traffic—two things came to mind. Number one, this is not the first time this driver has performed this dangerous maneuver and number two, what was the driver thinking?
Well, I will not delve into thought number one, but as for thought number two, what could this driver have been thinking? Or, more reasonably, what did the driver omit in his or her driving? Well, besides not considering the safety of others or the possibility of hitting or killing someone, the driver obviously did not think about his or her own safety, or the safety of those in the vehicle.
I hope this is not how we live our lives in our walk along the Way. That is, trying to take dangerous shortcuts to reach our destination. Because, if we are, we will undoubtedly one day make a grave miscalculation, and fall short of our goal. To avoid this misfortune, let us all remain faithful to the straight and narrow, even if it takes us a little longer to reach our destination. Let us also remain faithful in spreading the Word and the Message to the masses so that no one attempts dangerous shortcuts.
God Bless
Kurt
